Dear Hollywood Directors!

Are you involved in filming a remake of a classic Film/TV Show or other nostalgia filled media? Well, I've got it. That's right, the secret of a successful remake! Are you ready to hear it?

WE DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOUR VISION!

We want to see the vision of the creator. That's where are memories are, that's what your cashing in with the remake. You are not more talented than the creator! You do not know what is best for his/her film/show, etc. Bay, Boll, I'm looking at you. Lack the talent to write new stuff? Not creative enough to come up with your own works? Need to "borrow" the works of others? Fine. Whatever. There is plenty of stuff out there that could HONESTLY use a remake. But, please keep this in mind, if you lack the talent to write it yourself, you also lack the talent to rewrite it to fit "your" vision.

Further, if you want to remake an old work that no one has ever heard of before, fine, take whatever "artistic license" you feel is necessary to keep it fresh. It can work. If your remaking something, and marketing it on its cult following and nostalgia appeal, FOR FUCKS SAKE GIVE US OUR GOD DAMN NOSTALGIA!!! For ever thing you change to fit "your vision", is one less thing people are going to feel nostalgic about when they see your film. And since nostalgia is what your banking the entire piece on, that's one less thing people our going to like about your film.

One last note... If you are going to make a historical film... PLEASE try and make an effort to actually make it historical. I know, reading those so called "books" may seem beneath you, but seriously, it will add some depth to your films. Want to do a fictional piece in Period setting, great, fantastic even, but just SAY so. If you've got "Based on historical events" ANYWHERE in your trailer or marketing racket, best live up to that statement. Don't want to be "artistically constrained" by what ACTUALLY happened? Fine, don't call it historical and all is well.
